You weren’t lying! This little mutant is everything they said it was. I’m loving it so far. Now I will have a head to head competition between lelya and mutant. Overall I’m very pleased with the mutant so far. The Lelya is very pretty but needs some trigger work, messing with blow back screw, and parts don’t operate as smooth as mutant “At least out of the box” . Both shoot where you point if you do your part “at least to 65 yards”. I do like both but for the price difference I would’ve expected more from the Lelya out of the box. Thanks for all the help!

I’ve had a couple PCP’s in the past; a Marauder and Marauder Pistol, but this Mutant Shorty is my first serious airgun.

I’ve been shooting since I was old enough to hold a gun, and like most, started out on Crosman 760’s, Benjamin’s, etc. That was back when we measured our ammo in pints and quarts, and went through multiples of those every summer.

When I got a little older, I went through at least a brick of 22LR every weekend with my buddies, and there wasn’t a living bird or squirrel on our property that wasn’t the product of natural selection. We had smart varmints, or no varmints at all.

In adulthood, I joined the Army and always shot expert. Got out and joined the police force, where I became a dept. firearms instructor. A few years down the road and I had several sniper schools under my belt, as well as being a certified LE sniper instructor.

I’ve worked in the firearms and defense industries, where my marksmanship was put to use in developing new products for the black rifle and precision markets.

    BUT……

Not until I shot this friggin’ Mutant did I discover how accurate an airgun could be. I have to work at it to make the thing shoot inaccurately. It’s astonishing. And what’s more, is that all the same rules of physics that I learned and taught still apply. I downloaded the Chairgun app and am able to plug in the constituent data, and see physical science at work. Absolutely amazing! Mind blown. Epiphany in effect. Wallet lightened.

I wanted to mention that Tony at Talontunes made this transaction absolutely painless. I ordered the gun, a Hill MkIV, and the requisite fittings. He assembled the fittings on the fill hose for me and even threw in a tin of pellets. He must’ve sent it right before Matthew hit, as the hurricane was still rolling up the coast when the UPS truck brought my new toy. I asked for an expedited shipment, as we’re headed to Kauai in a few weeks and I have to have everything packed in a shipping container for the ocean voyage. I wanted to get it dialed in before it takes the boat ride. Thanks Tony!!! :8:
